Our evenings are filled with horse back riding, wind blowing through our hair as we ride four-wheelers, and swimming on a hot steamy summer days. This is the wonderful, beautiful, pleasurable town of Bethesda, Arkansas.
In the morning, I wake up to the sun seeping through my windows and setting my bedroom on fire, reaching every corner of the room. As soon as I am up, I get dressed and begin my adventures of the day by starting with a trip to the little and only store of our town. As I begin walking along side the paved, asphalt road, a car drives by, honks, and the person inside waves, showing his neighborly kindness. I continue walking and the old man that owns the old, almost run down car shop on the right side of the road waves a happy good morning to me. The wind begins to whistle in my ears and make my hair seem as if it is an endless sea of waves; causing me to pull the knots out for the tenth time so far.
I finally reach my destination; the store. The handle on the door feels as if it is an iceberg somewhere drifting through the freezing waters of Antarctica. Once the door is open a warm, sweet smelling sensation comes over me. The warmth of the inside of the store greats me with open arms, pulling me against its sweet chest making me never want to leave. The smell of fresh, steaming coffee an the breath taking scent of the hot chocolate fills my lungs. Over on the counter I notice a batch of cookies inviting me in with their sneaky, alluring smiles.
As I leave this place and enter out into the blistering winds that freeze me straight o the bone, I smile, because I know that this is where I belong. A place where a small hello, or wave of the hand from a complete stranger means the world. A place where I can find happiness wherever I turn. This place is my hometown of Bethesda, Arkansas, and I know for a fact I will never leave, because to me this is heaven on earth.
