Pity for a murderer

If you pass a car wreck and see someone on the ground dieing right in front of you, and you find out later that the person that you just saw dying was the drunkard that had caused the wreck, could you still have pity for this person? Pity is a natural thing that comes to all humans, but so is anger and frustration. To a lot of people after they found out that the person was a drunk they would have been like " OH, OH WELL THATS HIS FAULT;HE WAS THE ONE DRINKING," but to me thats not the case. In "The Sunflower" the nazi soilder was telling the Jew of all the pain he caused people; all the suffering, but he also expressed all the pain he was in. The naiz in his death bed stated "Behind the windows of the second floor, I saw a man with a small child in his arms. His clothes were alight. By his side stood a woman, doubtles the mother of the child. With his free hand the man covered the child's eyes....then he jumped into the street." Even the man who had stood by and watched all of these innocent people die by falling to their death he still had the feeling of sympathy. He knew that what he did was wrong and he felt pity toward the jewish people that had died that day;just as we should feel pity even toward those we may not be fond of. The nazi soilder then begins to explain his pain, " The pain became more and more unbearable. My whole body is covered with marks from pain-killing injections....I was taken from one field hospital to another, but they never sent me home.... that was the real punishment for me." Showing pity for this man should come very easy to those with a mind that is right with the Lord. Yes he may have done something that to some people is unbearable to think about, but honestly put yourself in his position. Would you not want someone to feel pity for you also? I pity this man mostly because of how he so easily pitied the people he had murdered. He realized what he had done to these people and he did his best to repent of it. Just by pitying this man we can realize how easy and right it is.
