Current Connection 2.1

In an article entitled The Relationship between caffeine consumption and study habits, it provides a great example of reasons why we should make the decision to have coffee in class rooms. Coffee has been proven to benefit our health; moreover, it can greatly enhance our test grades on a wide scale.

In this article by LE N. Pham he brings to attention one of the reasons that coffee can have a great impact on the student population by saying, " Caffeine stimulates the brain and makes a person feel awake and energetic." We should put coffee in our classes, because it increases our ability to learn by enhancing our brain. Why shouldn't we bring something into the classroom that could potentially help us to achieve a better GPA?

This article, a source of exquisite knowledge, a vast array of information to help aid in the understanding of this topic, also elaborates on the thought of putting coffee in the class room in saying, " Their performance at tasks such as proofreading for grammatical and typographical errors improved." Getting a wide smile on their faces, teachers will be able to get their students to understand with more ease than before. By using this new tool of education we can intensify the learning ability of every student in the united states, setting new test score records day to day.

The article clearly specifies the impact of this boost of energy by saying, "Caffeine has been shown to help school aged children and adults in speech, reaction time, and increased motor activities." In slipping this tool into the everyday class room we are more capable of absorbing more information than ever before, making a giant leap ahead in the educational life. By nailing the subject of study more quickly than before, our GPA will improve greatly as a whole.

If we were to place a coffee area in our class rooms, we may be able to help those exhausted kids boost their attentiveness in a short period of time, and in the long run be able to improve grades immensely. For instance, a teenage girl walked into class first thing in the morning prepared for the test; however since she stayed up studying all night she is very tired and her attention span is very slim and weak. On the other hand if their were to be coffee provided in the class the girl would be able to bring her attention span up quickly and ace her test. Wouldn't we want this for the hard working student anyway?

Making the decision of putting coffee in our classrooms is the first step into the new, improved future of greater work and ability coming from students in the long run.

Current Connection1.2 - Oral Communication

Today in our society oral communication is immensely important. In an article entitled Oral communication-Meaning, Advantages, limitations it emphasizes there are many advantages to using oral communication; however disadvantages arise that can cause stumbling blocks along the way. Communicating with another person is critical. Without communication we would not have order or structure in our life's.

The advantages of Oral Communication effect us daily, bringing us closer to people and being able to get across what we are thinking to others. In the article  it clearly states, " Oral Communication is best in case of problem resolution. The conflicts, disputes and many issues/differences can be put to an end by talking them over." Being able to resolve problems with others is important. It helps us to quickly be able to get rid of the problem and move on with our life's.

This article also states, "Oral Communication can be best used to transfer private and confidential information/matter." Oral communication, a monsterous beast to many, is a great way to use confidential information in a way that will benefit all whom are involved. Even though these advantages seem great, there are many disadvantages to this type of communication.

Disadvantages of communication are causing problems everyday. In the article it proves by these disadvantages by saying, "it requires attentiveness and great receptivity."   Being able to gain information and hold onto it is essential; however by using oral communication it has been proven to cause many complications throughout the process.

This article furthers this discussion by saying,  " Not easy to maintain and thus unsteady." The time we sit on information given to us is enough time to forget most if not all that we were provided with. How are we to move forward if the problem of memory keeps popping up?

With these advantages and disadvantages we gain and lose by using Oral Communication. As much as the advantages help the disadvantages are dragging us down as well. Think on it! Could you really do without oral communication.

love spoiled

Love spoiled

The day was as normal as any other. The sun was shining bright and people were packing their bags for week long vacations. In her eyes, this day was not happy at all. It was as dark as the pit of hell itself, and as silent as the dead. This is the day her world came crashing down over her already troubled soul, casting a shadow of pure hatred to completely fill her up until she felt as if she were possessed by the devil himself.

Annie Bullard had just received a voicemail on her home phone from a young lady wondering when her husband was going to be headed back to California to continue their friendship with pleasurable benefits. She knew that something was different between her and Taylor for the past three years, but she always stayed strong and refused to believe that he was the type that would cheat on her. They had been happy with two beautiful children, but what had changed?

She felt her stomach start to do back flips, and her whole body felt like it could catch flames any minute. Was it possible for someone to feel so much hatred and rage toward another person? She thought about what she could have done wrong to make him want to cheat on her. Annie felt empty. Like all the life had just been sucked out of her, and a numbing sensation fell upon her like a swarm of hornets when their nest is disturbed. It was only forty minutes ‘till he got home from his poker game with his buddies down the street.  She knew she could never let the kids know they were fighting, and she certainly didn’t want them to think of their father as a bad person even though he deserved that.

What was she going to do? How was she going to tell him that she had found out about his affair with the younger lady in California? She had to take the kids somewhere where they could be happy. She began to absent mindedly walk around the house picking up toys, and getting the kids bags packed. The bus would be here any minute now. Annie called their grandmother and asked if she could watch them for the weekend so her and Taylor could have some time to themselves. She started to become nervous. Taylor never was much of a violent man, but sometimes he had too many drinks when he went out with the boys that tended to make him have a more sour temper toward things.

The big yellow monster that took her kids away from her for eight hours out of the day pulled up in front of the house with a screech that was as bad as nails being drug across a chalk board.  Annie peered through the creamy, lace curtains out at her kids. They were smiling, happily running up the side walk to give her the after school hugs. She had a pleasant feeling rush through her for a split second, but it faded with the thought of what Taylor had done taking away her children’s happiness. Pure hatred ran through her again. She would never let anyone take away her kids happiness.

After getting her hugs she buckled them up in the truck and took them to their grandma’s house for their weekend sleep over. She was down to twenty minutes before he came home, and she wanted to be there when he walked through the door. She said hi to their grandmother, told the kids bye, told them she loved them, and left with a purpose in her heart that scared even her.  She decided that talking to him would solve nothing. She wanted to hurt him, wanted to cause him so much pain that he would never be able to hurt her again, for her sake as well as her children’s.  She had never thought that she would be the kind of person that would consider murdering someone, but she knew it had to be done.

Annie started by cleaning the blade to where it shined like a brand new dimond ring, and hid under one of the couch cushians. She felt like she had bricks in the pit of her stomach, and began to feel the need to vomit. Her time was running short. She prepared his last meal and placed it on the side table next to his lazy boy recliner in front of the tv. She heard a door shut outside, and knew that this was it. It was time to finish this craziness and hurt that he had caused her.

The Effect of Divorce on the Child

People never really contemplate the effects that can follow a divorce. "Divorce can be an emotionally difficult experience, especially if children are involved." When children are involved complications arise. For instance, who the child is going to live with is a major problem that arises. "In most cases, custody is shared between divorced parents in one form or another meaning that parents will have to work out schedules of exchanges or visitations, and provide for emergency changes to the schedule that may arise." It is extremely hard for the child to cooperate when arguments break out between the mom and dad about where the child will live. More than once the child will get mad at the parents, and say stuff like, "I don't want to live with either one of you."
It helps the child more if the parents cooperate by doing their part, and making it easier on the kids by talking positively about things in front of each other. "The way spouses talk about each other in front of or to the child can impact the way the child perceives things." The way the parents act toward each other generally rubs off on the child, leading to the child bringing their feelings to the surface when they are around people their own age. For example, bullying problems in our schools today. "Parenting time, including custody and visitation exchanges, should be accomplished with predictable routines in an atmosphere with low conflict and stress." If the parents do not express conflict around the child less stress is brought to the child. In the end, in order to make it easier on the child try and not to show exactly how strongly you despise each other directly in front of or within ear shot of the child.

Child abuse

Children ranging from a newborn to an 18 year old are being abuse everyday throughout our community. "Statistics for 2005 are estimated at 3.3 million referrals  of child abuse or neglect." You may not know it but behind a mask of one of the happiest kids you've meet may be one of hatred, hurting, and betrayal. 3.3 million is way to many cases of abuse. In my opinion, it shouldn't have been drawn out that long in order to get such a high number. " 12 out of every 1,000 children up to age 18 in the U.S were found to be victims of maltreatment in 2005." It is emotionally disturbing to think that our fellow peers are being beaten and abused physically, mentally, or sexually at home. Are we suppose to just sit back and let such mistreatment's occur? Of course not!
Child abuse is outrageous and should not be allowed to continue. It is our job to help those children that our being mistreated throughout our community. "The longer the abuse continues the more damage it will ultimatley cause the child." When you have found out that child abuse is occuring don't hesitate to bring it to someones attention. As fellow peers to those children being abused we must stand up for what is right. "Report it to your local CPS(child protection services) or to the police." Don't try and handle a child abuse case yourself, because you to could easily end up a victim. Reporting a case will, in the end, keep you away from harm, and help to immediatley stop the case entirley.

Outrageous Gun Control

The topic of gun control is becoming more widespread everyday. "Strongest and most comprehensive pieces of gun legislation in the country that deals with restrictions on weapons and large capacity ammunition magazines." This is absolutely ridiculous. Why do they not comprehend the fact that it is not the guns that are roaming the streets of our country killing people; its the crazy people that are not behind bars long enough because we do not have enough room for them." The measure would also ban the sale of both high capacity rifles and magazines with more than ten rounds."  Just because the government makes magazines with more than ten rounds restricted does not mean that the criminal would be incapable of inflicting serious damage and injury on someone. For that matter I guess that means they should restrict the crow bar as well, because any insane person could easily you that as a deadly weapon just the same as they could with a gun.

In restricting our guns, our government is basically spitting in the faces of our forefathers and telling them they were idiots for giving us our natural rights. " Signing Anti-gun legislation would not be doing away with gun violence but liberating American citizens of our constitutional rights."   Just because some criminal has killed a great number of people does not mean that our constitutional right( right to bear arms) should be taken away. We have the right as human beings to protect ourselves.  " You are not eliminating guns from society but eliminating our ability to protect our lives, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."  Why would I have to sit back and watch a crazy person kill many of my fellow citizens( men, women, and children) when I could pull out my gun and end it right there? Let me paint you a picture. How about the government let us keep our rights and make them deal with the whack jobs by either making more room so they can be behind bars for life or do away with them entirely.

Right to Bear Arms

Slowly our govenment is pushing the thought of taking away one of our rights that could possibly mean making an impact on our safety.  Not only is this just humanly wrong, but it  is also completley unconstitutional. Our fore fathers wrote the constitution for our protection, and we are entitled to these basic rights. I just can not fathom the thought of people letting the government take their rights away without considering those who it may affect.
Do the " big people" sittin up there in washington have the right to take away rights of citizens throughout the U.S when they do not have a clue what trully goes on where the normal citizens live? For hundreds of years now we have had our basic rights that ensure our freedom in America, but with government currently argueing back and forth about taking these away how can we be sure that those rights are safe anymore? " The White Houses recent announcement, they will use executive orders and executive actions to infringe on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms, is an unconstitutional and unconscionable attack on the very founding principles of this republic," (yahoo news). It is some what of a relief to know that there are people fighting for the smaller people, and are making sure that our rights do not get smothered under this political fire; however, we as citizens can also help by speaking up on our nations behalf.
People who just dismiss our rights being taken away the same as they dismiss a fly that has been buzzing around their head just strikes me as odd. Obviously these people have no clue what that would mean, but I believe that the people out there with common sense will stand up against the goverment stomping our rights in the dirt." I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary," (yahoo news). What would you choose: a world with people who are free to protect themselves and their families against crimainals who, no matter the laws, will get their hands on a deadly weapon, or  a world where the criminals rule due to the fact that the law abiding citizens have nothing to protect themselves with. Respect the constitution, respect the fact that you have rights to protect your freedom, and stand up against such an unfair government action.
